More than 150 new homes with a view across open farmland and linkage to the Two Moors Way are set to be built in Witheridge, mid Devon. Allison Homes will deliver 155 homes after the developer secured planning on circa 17 acres of land adjacent to the village to build them.

The project has planning consent for 109 open market and 46 affordable homes, ranging from flats to bungalows and with two, three and four bedroom houses.

Allison Homes will bring forward the modern and energy-efficient new build homes with construction starting immediately on site . The first homes soon will be ready for occupation in Spring 2024. The show complex will open in early 2024.

The housebuilder has worked with Bean Architects to design homes that fit well within the edge of village site maximising the outlook and panoramic countryside views.

As part of the S106 agreement, Allison Homes will contribute in excess of £800,000 to the local area, including additional car parking for the village surgery a MUGA (Multi Use Games Area), LEAP (local equipment area for play), LAP (local area for play) and public open space. Financial contributions will also be made for improvements to the skatepark, tennis club, village hall and allotments. Land will also be planted for Biodiversity habitat improvement and to soften the boundary landscape between the open farmland and the edge of new-build residential.

The Phase 2 Witheridge site is also a key strategic milestone for Allison Homes as it drives its five-year growth plan forward.

Tom Tippets Regional , Head of Land at Allison Homes said: “Witheridge is a significant site for us and we’re delighted to be bringing this development forward following delivery of the planning consent in conjunction with the landowner and specialist residential development land agent Scott Rossiter (Mob 07970 660378) of Rossiter Property.”

He added: “We know there is strong demand for high quality new-build homes amongst a wide range of buyers in the region. With the site’s proximity to Tiverton we anticipate Witheridge will be an attractive option for prospective purchasers looking to stay in, or move to, the area.

The landowner is delighted that there will be 46 opportunities out of 155 new-build homes for young people and families in the area to get onto the property ladder on a genuinely Affordable basis. Rent or shared ownership purchase is available and this future provision will compliment the Homes in Phase 1 already consolidated in the community.”
